My story

Lindsay Nelson RDN

Hi! I’m Lindsay, a registered dietitian specializing in functional nutrition for women and kids.

I specialize in areas that have impacted myself and my family. I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2015 after struggling with infertility.  Fertility meds weren’t my friend, so I did a TON of digging into the science to figure out if I could change my hormones, get my cycles naturally, and get pregnant. Spoiler alert – I did! I was able to have 3 babies in 3.5 years without fertility meds, all by following the same protocol that I teach in my PCOS program.

That experience jump started my interest in women’s health: endometriosis, period problems, infertility, etc.

After having children, we started experiencing problems with extreme eczema, constipation, sleep problems, and extreme behavior/emotional challenges that later was diagnosed as ADHD. Over the years with my own children I’ve learned so much about functional labs and nutrition for children to learn how to get down to the root cause. Through gut testing and other lab testing, we’ve drastically improved my own children’s symptoms. Constipation? Resolved with a stool test and protocol. Sleep? Much improved after a ferritin test. ADHD? Always a work in progress, but much improved with supplements and nutrition.

Credentials and experience: I graduated with my bachelor’s in dietetics from Missouri State University (GO BEARS!); completed my 1 year supervised internship with Tri-County Health Department in Denver, CO; passed the Registered Dietitian board exam; and keep up with the required continuing education to maintain my credentials. I also have my certificate of completion in functional medicine nutrition from The Integrative and Functional Nutrition Academy, as well as my certificate of completion in Adult Weight Management from The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. I’ve also completed several courses and trainings in functional labs and nutrition.

Before starting my own business in 2021, I dabbled in many different areas of dietetics including prenatal/postnatal and childhood nutrition, retail and community nutrition at a supermarket, outpatient cardio, freelance writing and recipe development, and lots of nutrition and cooking segments in the local media.

My main job is being a mom to my 3 boys. You’ll find us riding bikes, hiking in the woods, playing in mud puddles, going to playgrounds and eating lots of snacks. In my free time I do lots of laundry. My husband, kids and I live in KCMO, but I can see anyone in Missouri or Kansas, and some other states depending on licensing laws.
